Tune Into Your Potential: Employability Workshop with a Musical Difference.
Due to the booming success of our previous Tune Into Your Potential workshops, we (Rewise Learning) have been granted the go ahead to deliver more TIYP workshops within the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, and Carmarthenshire areas.
This innovative approach to youth skills development is aimed at young people aged 16 to 25 who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Tune Into Your Potential will have a special focus on targeting young people who have barriers to learning and employment such as physical or learning disabilities, mental health illnesses, as well as those who need a little help and support too.
The aim of the workshop is to use the power of music and song writing to increase participant’s confidence, motivation and team working skills. Alongside this, they will have the chance to enhance their soft skills and general employability to help them take the next step into training or employment.
Past Tune Into Your Potential Project:
“Everyone can appreciate music on some level; getting up on a microphone and singing pushes people out of their comfort zone, just like in a job or college interview” – Stuart Williams, Project Manager.
Rewise Learning has an army of professional musicians which will teach participants how to write, sing and record songs from scratch using high-tech music production equipment. Our musicians can cover an array of music genres including rap, rock and even classical; the workshop suited to every individual!
Tutors will also be on hand to help with the employability side of things such as CV writing, interview skills and completing job applications. Upon completion, the young people will receive a GCSE level qualification in Personal and Social Education, further improving their chances of success within employment.
Following completion of the Tune Into Your Potential workshop, Rewise Learning tutors will work closely with the project partakers to help find local employment and training opportunities. Tutors will even help learners fill in application forms and practice interview questions.
“I really enjoyed (the course). I found it very fun and learnt a lot... I’ve had a massive confidence boost. When I first started I couldn’t speak for 2 hours because I was anxious but within 4 days I was able to stand in front of 2 people and sing" - Tune Into Your Potential 2020 participant
The project has been part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh government and will be offered free of charge to eligible people throughout Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend, and Carmarthenshire.
