Rewise Learning is looking for an enthusiastic, qualified and experienced workshop tutor to join our dynamic workshop delivery team as a songwriting/music tutor. Working on a variable hours basis, you will deliver music, songwriting and confidence raising activities (other subject may also be required to be taught) to learners of all ages and abilities and in a variety of school, college and community settings. Duties of the workshop music tutor will include planning and delivering our innovative Learnthrumusic Courses, classroom management of workshops with up to 20 learners, completion of all required workshop administration and creating a learning environment where learners of all backgrounds and ages can feel comfortable expressing themselves. The role will involve travel to various locations around the country and may involve some overnight stays. Use of your own vehicle and the ability to speak Welsh are essential.
The successful applicant(s) will join our team of tutors to deliver our award winning songwriting workshops for learners with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and ages, and in a variety of settings that include schools, colleges and community venues. Working collaboratively with other LearnThruMusic tutors and staff, the songwriting tutor will in the most part focus on helping learners develop their own lyrics, often to incorporate pre-set themes, using a variety of lyric writing techniques. You will also encourage learners to practice the delivery of lyrics (e.g. singing/rapping for recording) and explore a range of creative writing techniques. As a song-writing tutor you may be asked to work alone or as part of a larger team of musicians, producers and accreditation tutors. You will also be required to complete course workbooks with learners to ensure they achieve any accompanying accreditation. It is imperative the successful candidate is able to engage participants in each activity, ensuring all group members contribute to the creative process and lyrical content. You will tailor the lyric writing process to include all learners and also be mindful and empathetic towards topics that may be sensitive, as well as keeping up to date with a range of current music genres and styles. The successful candidate will also display superb classroom management techniques, be required to undertake risk assessments for course activities, adhere to all child and vulnerable adult protocols/procedures and ultimately, nurture a fun and engaging learning environment where all learners feel able to express themselves.
To include planning and preparation of workshops; liaison with other workshop tutors and customers and preparation of all workshop activities, lesson plans, paperwork and any other aspect ad may be required. To amend and adjust lesson plans/timetable(s) to fit in with client and learnerEnsure all techniques and activities are appropriate to the learning styles and needs of participants. To deliver our music workshops in line with our ethos and approach including:Conducting an ice breaker session to include an introduction to the lyric writing and an activity in which the whole group becomes familiarised (staff included). Classroom managementDiscussion based activities to generate lyrical content for songs. This may be in line with a topic specified by clients (e.g. revision topics at school, or training materials from corporate companies) or may have to be decided amongst the group.Ideas generation sessions to include discussion of themes and concepts for the lyric writing process. An emphasis on literacy and creative writing with participants.Analysis and use of creative/lyric writing tools and techniques, e.g. rhyme, alliteration, metaphor etc.Planning and preparation of all workshop sessions Liaison with other workshop staff to discuss progress and plan sessionsCompletion of all course and learner paperworkSupporting learners through completion of all course workbooks leading to accreditation.Post-course, the songwriter will be responsible for making sure all lyrics are in order (by liaising with the music producer).
Proven songwriting experience and abilityAbility to Speak WelshUse of own transport & full UK drivers licenseFull Enhanced DBS CheckExperience in song writing, composition in a range of musical styles/genres (including up to date / current genres). Appropriate teaching qualification, level 3 in education and training or equivalent (desirable) Knowledge of production styles in a range of genres.Knowledge of songwriting/creative writing techniques and tools Experience of working with people of a range of ages, abilities and backgrounds. A strong work ethic. Show empathy and work with participants in an appropriate manner and be mindful of individual needs.
