HIRING: Project Worker: Participant Recruitment and Progression


We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and pro-active Participant Recruitment and Progression Officer to work as part of our Tune Into Your Potential Youth and Adult projects. Duties of the Participant Recruitment and Progression Officer include promotion of our projects and recruiting eligible participants, as well as maintaining relationships with local organisations that engage with our client groups. It will also entail finding and signposting suitable progression routes and outcomes for participants who have completed the project. The successful candidate will be able to work without supervision, be proactive and work on their own initiative to complete all required duties. This job is for a temporary period of 6 months, however, there may be the opportunity to extend dependent on project funding. The job requires use of your own vehicle.

The role:

Participant Recruitment and Progression officer duties include promoting our European Social Fund project to potential participants and building links with local organisations such as Job Centre Plus, Careers Wales, housing associations and others. You will be required to act as the public face of the project to provide information about our service and to recruit participants and check their eligibility for our projects. You will be required to arrange meetings with potential participants to collect all eligibility evidence to be passed to our Administrative Officer. To identify all learner needs with regards to progressions and provide effective solutions, accurately tracking and recording progress. The successful candidate will also be required to complete all participant paperwork throughout the lifetime of the project and to closely monitor participant progression.

Ultimately, the successful participant will portray a positive public face for our projects and ensure we recruit sufficient numbers of participants. You will also ensure participants are signposted to and can access a range of suitable progression routes and collect all relevant evidence pertaining to this.


- Promoting our projects within Swansea to potential participants and other organisations

- Recruit and profile sufficient numbers of eligible participants to our projects

- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and collect relevant participant eligibility evidence

- Ensure all evidence is passed to Administration Officer for upload

- Building and maintaining relationships with recruitment and progression partners

- Arrange meetings with participants to collect evidence

- Conduct pre and post project interviews with participants to record participant requirements

- Build relationships with local businesses, volunteer groups, colleges and organisations to identify a range of participant progression routes

- Maintain contact with participants post-project to track and evidence progressions

- Liaise with Administration Officer regarding outstanding participant evidence

- Conduct all participant meetings in line with our safeguarding procedures and protocols


- Outgoing & friendly personality

- A minimum of one year of learner or employer engagement experience (desirable)

- Experience with employer, adult, unemployed recruitment (desirable)

- Good knowledge of local area priorities

- Ability to communicate effectively with people of different backgrounds

- Excellent time management and time keeping skills

- Ability to build multi-agency relationships

- Ability to hit targets and deadlines

- Able to plan own work schedule and work independently

- Ability to listen effectively and non-judgementally, and accurately record participant requirements

- Accurate record keeping

- Own transport essential

- Ability to “sell” a range of progression routes to participants

- Able to use own initiative to identify recruitment sources and progression opportunities

- Able to use Microsoft packages and electronic devices such as scanners, printers
